How do you define hope? Is it a wish for a bright future? Is it an illusion that keeps us believing a “better” future is possible? Is hope real?
If you would have asked me a few years ago, I would have answered this question with "It’s a feeling. I need to feel hope to keep believing”. But hope is not a feeling.
So the question is how to keep hoping with our state of the world? With so many bad things happening?
When I was about to lose hope (still believing it’s a feeling), Laura H. Hartley’s newsletter reached me last October saying: "Hope is a practice. It is the stubborn commitment to believe in possibilities that we cannot yet see." Her words made me think.
And with that, a new interpretation of hope arose for me: Hope is a decision. A decision I make every day. Sometimes it’s harder than others. Sometimes it’s not possible.
But I want to have hope. Hope that all the amazing inventions, creations and initiatives bringing us step-by-step to a beautiful and harmonized world, will flourish.
I used to struggle a lot with seeing the positive of us humans being on this planet. Not anymore. I made the decision to open my eyes to all the good things being created by humans. And I am telling you now - There is so much. So much to see, so much to believe in. So much to love. So many people are creating a better world little by little. Everyday! This is why I made the decision to have hope. To trust in Humanity.
