Last night I woke up with an epiphany - I (almost) forgot to have fun!
It’s true, the last years since the pandemic have been challenging: The state of the world is very unstable (wars, climate change, famine, drought to only name a few). But also on a personal level I made my way to being a self-employed entrepreneur. I learned a lot about other people. I had to learn to set boundaries. To not trust everyone blindly and many other things coming with being an entrepreneur.
And to be fair. I wouldn’t miss these valuable life lessons (even though I could happily pass on some of the experiences coming with it ;-) )
I love my work. I love the flexibility coming with it. I work with some of the most amazing humans on this planet. But in the last months it more and more started to be an obligation to maintain myself. To make money, so I can feed myself. To fight for a better future. I simply forgot to have fun! I forgot to be playful! I started to be serious - and not only in a good way. Being playful is a super important part to maintain health. Part of the future I want to see is one, where people can have fun.
When was the last time you did something just out of pure playfulness? Just to have fun similar to the one you used to have as a child?
With that I am not saying that we do have to become childlike again. Or that the pain we experience isn’t valid. But I want to encourage you, to do something, once in a while, that’s just pure fun. Dress up in a different way, go to the water and throw rocks in the water to see how high it splashes, just anything. Dance as weirdly as you love.
I know I will start having fun again. To quote Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ;-)
(And yes, of course I still was very happy about a dancing leave, about a beautiful flower, a sunset and all other beautiful places nature brings!)
