Where do we go from this?

A week ago, D. Trump got elected as president. Again.
This was for me, as for many others, a shock. I was hoping so deeply, that we will see the first female president in the United States of America. And I know, I myself am not living in the US. Never visited. So we could ask, who am I to be so deeply devastated by this outcome?

The thing is, what is happening in one country, is not only affecting this country. If a huge country decides to leave the Paris Agreement for example, the CO2 emissions will rise, and this is will have a dramatic negative impact on the future of all living beings. And I believe, in no country, there should be a leader at the top, creating more division and spread hate, when connection and love is so desperately needed.

But sadly, this is by far not the only thing devastating at the moment. Wars, starvation, climate catastrophes, hatred, fascism, homophobia, transphobia, intensive livestock breeding, deforestation and much more is happening.

This looks dark.

So the question is. Where do we go from this?

So the most important thing for now is: Don’t give up. Be sad, be angry, be frustrated. Connect with all these emotions. This is what makes us human. (And to be fair, I had my fair amount of frustration in the last week!)

But please, please, after some time of grieving, come back to us. We need you.
We need all the love, all the compassion and all the good will we can get.

We won’t be changing the world by tomorrow. But I am sure, every bit of kindness makes a difference. Every bit of action is important. And also, be open to receive an act of kindness. Both is needed.

So let us be compassionate, be kind and take this as a chance to connect. It is needed.

Love,
Muriel
